Review: Par 6 - Don’t Worry About It

Review by Troy Sennett

Some bands just seem to be born in the sun.  That definitely seems to be the case with Par 6, whose debut EP, Don’t Worry About It, has more in common with the bright sounds of the classic Drive-Thru lineup than their upstate New York stomping grounds would let on.  The record starts with its two weakest songs, which suffer primarily because they are just too long.  In fact, every song on the EP would feel tighter and more focused with thirty to forty-five seconds shaved off, but the problem is less noticeable as the album picks up steam.  Midtempo rocker “Almost Home” and the overtly Blink-182-esque “Change Your Mind” are definite highlights, with strong, memorable melodies and lyrics that, while fairly generic, work well with Par 6’s have-fun-and-don’t-take-it-too-seriously brand of pop punk.  There is nothing deep or grandiose or game-changing on Don’t Worry About It, but this is pop punk, so that really is nothing to worry about.

SCORE: 7/10
