Late Night Sing-Alongs

LNSA Recommends: Ages

  Ages - Dreamer

Ages is a young melodic hardcore/pop punk out of Cleveland, Ohio. For fans of Basement, Title Fight, Such Gold; that grittier sounding style of pop punk. With two of the members still being in high school, its easy to say that Ages is a really young band. We here at Late Night Sing Alongs could not be more excited to see what’s to come. Download their first full length, Sleep On It, for free on Bandcamp and make sure to ‘like’ them on Facebook. Purchase the cassette here.

Interview with Ages:

Late Night Sing Alongs: How did Ages start? What are Ages main influences musically?
Connor (Guitar): Ages started about two years ago as a completely different band with mostly different members as a side project sort of thing. It never really worked out, though, and after that broke up Carson and I got together with a drummer and did a few demos with a different bass player. The bass player decided to quit and we parted ways with the drummer and got Jo and Airick. Our influences are all pretty weird. My main influences are Alkaline Trio, Lifetime, and NoFX.
Jo (Drums): Mine would be Bright Eyes, Minor Threat, Kid Dynamite.
Carson (Guitar/Vocals): Verse, Wolf Blood, and Slack Jawed
Airick (Bass): Gorilla Biscuits, Dag Nasty, InfestEveryone: xFilesx

LNSA: You guys are all really young correct? What are your plans for the band when you all graduate?
Connor: We still have 4 years until any of us graduate college, and Carson and I are both still in high school. We don’t want to think about it now.

LNSA: You recently got signed to Ice Grillz over in Japan. How did that come about and how have the reactions been?
Airick: I was creeping on our Facebook and noticed Mizuki liked our page, so I found his email address and asked if he wanted to distro some of our cassettes, to which he said he’d be interested in, but then he asked if we just wanted to sign instead. We happily obliged, and our album will be out in Japan in October. The reception of it has been great, we’ve had a lot of people congratulating us and saying they’re happy for us. We’ve been getting a steady amount of feedback and orders of our cassettes, which is all I can ask for.

LNSA: Being really young compared to other touring acts, how supportive are your families towards Ages touring in general?
Airick
: All of our parents are extremely supportive of us touring; we just did a 6 day tour, which my parents were fine with since mine and Carson’s old band Exseteras had toured before. Connor’s parents were uneasy with the idea at first, but my parents assured them that we’re all responsible enough to tour.

LNSA: Any new releases planned to close out 2011?
Farron: We don’t have any plans to release anything else in 2011, but we already have a bunch of songs written for a new full length that we’re going to take our time with recording and release sometime in 2012.

LNSA: Anything else you guys would like to add?
Airick
: I’m Airick, I hate milk, and I’m scared of open water.
Connor: Check out our full length album at agescleveland.bandcamp.com and follow us at www.facebook.com/AgesCleveland
Jo: I want to die in the water before I’m 25
Carson: Horror movies with my dog.
